AgriSETA, the Agricultural Sector Education and Training Authority, is a South African organization responsible for promoting and facilitating skills development and training within the agricultural sector. It creates opportunities for social, economic, and employment growth for agri-enterprises. AgriSETA operates under the South African Skills Development Act, and its activities cover all aspects of the agricultural sector, from farming inputs and activities on the farm to initial processing. Facilitating various learning opportunities such as learnerships (which combine theory and practical work), internships, apprenticeships, and skills programmes/short courses.

JOB PURPOSE

  • Reporting to the Chairperson of the Accounting Authority (Board), the Chief Executive Officer will be responsible and accountable for all aspects of AgriSETA’ s corporate management, core business delivery, financial management and reporting obligations.

FUNCTIONAL OUTPUTS /

  • Sector Skills Plan (SSP), Strategic Plan (SP), Annual
  • Performance Plan (APP), Service Level Agreement (SLA) and Operational Plans (OPs) are Smart, Measurable
  • Attainable, Reliable and Timebound (SMART).
  • Achievement of the Annual Performance Plan targets.

ENHANCE ENTITY PERFORMANCE AND IMPLEMENTATION OF THE BOARD RESOLUTIONS

  • Ensure Policy Development and Review.
  • Implementation of the Board Resolutions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

  • A Master’s degree in Management, Leadership and /or Public
  • Administration or equivalent.
  • PhD will be an added advantage.
  • At least 10 years’ experience within a senior management or executive level, preferably within the public sector

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge and understanding of the following laws: Skills
  • Development Act, Skills Development Levies Act, Public
  • Finance Management Act.
  • Knowledge in accounting and finance matters.
  • Above average understanding of the core business of a SETA.
  • Knowledge of corporate management and governance.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Highly developed communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic leadership.
  • Ability to provide effective and efficient agricultural research support to study groups.
  • SETA-related and /or skills development experience would be an added advantage.
