Compliance Management – according to ISO standards.

  • Examining and researching the compliance areas across the business and industry and mitigating identified risks ensuring compliance with all applicable regulations, legislation, company policies and industry best practice.
  • Ensure that Compliance Risk Management/Programmes/SOPS are drafted and implemented across the Group.
  • Identify applicable new legislation and amendments.
  • Identifying gaps/potential deficiencies in the Group’s compliance
  • The assessment of regulatory and compliance changes, the identification of impact to company policies and procedures including the amendment or compilation of such policies or procedures as may be required.
  • Continued revision, review and amendment of company policies pertaining to legislation.
  • Reporting on the impact of new and amended legislation on the company, including the required mitigation and remediation activities to comply.
  • Assist in the implementation and guidance of new and revised compliance controls as a result of new legislation or amendments to existing legislation.
  • Provide ongoing support to divisions to maintain continued corporate governance that is lawful and ethical.
  • Manage audits by Regulators and address queries/findings.
  • Manage small compliance team.
  • Facilitate and liaise with designated compliance officers throughout the Group.

Management of electronic compliance platform (integrated with Risk and Internal Audit).

  • Update and maintain the compliance universe.
  • Periodically revise and/or manage revision of assessments and checklists.
  • Create/assist with creation of compliance legislation questionnaires.
  • Implement/ maintain and administer compliance systems and platforms.
  • Training, assistance and advice on the use of compliance systems
  • Provide oversight, support and assistance with related compliance systems.
  • Report on the levels of compliance.

Providing proactive legal and compliance advice.

Translate legislation into business language and action plans for the relevant business department:

  • Drafting, reviewing and implementation of compliance controls and checklists
  • Provide guidance to divisions on identifying, interpreting, assessing, monitoring and managing compliance legislation.
  • Analysing and interpreting checklists and audit responses by on-site visits.

Present training and create awareness of compliance-related functions.

  • Identify areas of compliance training and awareness
  • Design systems/procedures for appropriate training
  • Oversee compliance training.
  • Formulate and/or evaluate training material where applicable.

Present training where applicable: 

  • Assurance of adequate organisational knowledge and skill to enable sustainable adherence to legal and compliance requirements.
  • Drive compliance awareness and encourage a compliance culture across the business.
  • Promote and sustain an ethical compliance culture that values responsible conduct and compliance with internal and external obligations

Requirements

  • Qualifications: BCom Law/ LLB degree (certified member of the Compliance Institute of South Africa / Admitted attorney and post graduate degree in business management preferred.
  • Knowledge: Thorough understanding of FICA, POPIA and related legislation. Corporate governance principles. Basic knowledge of Statutes. Understanding of FAIS.
  • Requirements: At least 3 years relevant compliance experience in a large corporate environment/financial services sector/commercial law practice.
