Requirements :

• Grade 12 plus National Diploma (NQF level 6)/Bachelor’s degree (NQF level 7) in GISc/Cartography or relevant qualification recognized by SAQA.
• Compulsory registration with South African Geomatics Council (SAGC) as a GISc Technologist.
• Minimum of Three (3) years’ experience post registration. Valid driver’s license.

COMPETENCIES:

• Good interpersonal, planning, coordination and project and document management skills. Excellent written, verbal communication.
• Knowledge of Spatial planning systems and norms of Government. Spatial modelling and analysis knowledge.
• GISc applications. Government Immovable Asset Management Act of 2007.
• Occupational Health and Safety Act of 1993 and Regulations. National Environmental Management Act of 1998.
• Relevant Provincial Land Administration Legislation.

Duties :

• Perform technical spatial activities for infrastructure planning.
• Collect credible data from different sources.
• Capture data and update on a regular basis on required formats.
• Analyse data according to application requirements.
• Implement quality assurance.
• Provide all GIS information for infrastructure deliverables e.g., Infrastructure Asset Management Plan, Project Initiation Reports/ Project Business case etc.
• Contribute to the design of an appropriate spatial database for infrastructure planning in line with existing systems.
• Document functional and user requirements. Identify gap analysis.
• Verify spatial data. Update information. Capture metadata records.
• Produce fully functional maps customised to requirements of users.
• Compile reports.
• Spatial services.
• Develop maps.
• Collect and update all changes in terms of the comprehensive physical resource’s framework of the department.
• Confirm land and building locations. Extract data and prepare reports.
• Capture and update all GIS information on infrastructure reporting and related platforms.
• Manage electronic document system in terms of IDMS requirements.
