The National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa was established as a non-profit institute for education in terms of the Companies Act (1973) and is listed as a schedule 3A public entity in terms of the Public Finance Management Act (1999). NEMISA derives its mandate from the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies (DCDT) which was formed subsequent to the merger of the Department of Telecommunications and Postal Services (DTPS) and the Department of Communication.

Digital Ambassador: Ya Rona Digital Programme (Six-Month Contract)

Main Purpose of the Job
The Digital Ambassador for the Ya Rona Digital Programme will attend training sessions on basic digital literacy modules and subsequently provide training to community members. The role requires a passion for digital literacy and community development, ensuring that citizens gain essential skills to engage with digital technologies effectively.
Job Objectives
- Learn: Gain basic digital literacy skills on the provided modules.
- Participate: Actively engage in training sessions to build the necessary knowledge and skills.
- Train: Deliver training to community members on basic digital literacy skills.
- Liaise: Coordinate with the Project Manager to identify training venues within the community.
- Achieve Targets: Ensure weekly targets are met by training the required number of citizens in your area.
- Report: Submit weekly reports to the Project Manager, documenting the number of citizens trained against set targets.
Education and Qualifications
- Minimum:
- Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent.
- Computer literate.
- Ideal:
- Post-matric qualification.
- Computer certificate (or similar qualification).
Job-Related Work Experience
- Minimum:
- 1–2 years of relevant work experience.
- Ideal:
- Must be bilingual (ability to communicate in more than one language).
Job-Related Knowledge and Skills
- Basic knowledge of computer packages.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work with data.
- Communication skills (both written and verbal).
- Ability to write reports clearly and accurately.
- Computer literate and comfortable with digital tools and technology.
