Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) is a South African government body established in 2010 to oversee the design, accreditation, and certification of occupational qualifications.

About Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO)

The Quality Council for Trades and Occupations (QCTO) is a Quality Council established in 2010 in terms of the Skills Development Act (Act 97 of 1998) as amended in 2008. The QCTO also offers guidance to skills development providers (private and public) and assessment centres who must be accredited by the QCTO in order to implement occupational qualifications.

Job purpose

To provide administrative support to the accreditation unit.

Key functions:

  • Analyse accreditation applications for occupational qualifications and skills programmes.
  • Conduct desktop reviews and determine compliance readiness.
  • Maintain records of desktop conducted.
  • Communicate and Coordinate scheduled site visit logistics.
  • Consolidate all accreditation reports for site visits Conducted.
  • Coordinate the logistics of conducting monitoring visits.
  • Consolidate all monitoring reports for monitoring visits Conducted
  • Collate SMEs claims and supporting documents
  • Communicate with SMEs with outstanding claims
  • Support domain-specific projects related to accreditation processes.
  • Contribute to the planning and rollout of QCTO initiatives
  • Maintain project registers, workplans, and deliverables
  • Coordinate meetings with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Support internal and external audits through documentation verification
  • Maintain and organise QCTO records, reports, and provider files.
  • Ensure adherence to QCTO policies, delegation frameworks, and SOPs.
  • Compile monthly and quarterly performance report on work done.
  • Provide a report on trends related to accreditation

Job Requirements

A recognized National Diploma at NQF Level 6

Required Competencies:

  • Computer literacy, MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Willingness to learn and take initiative
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Time management and organizational skills

Other requirements:

  • Unemployed South African citizens between 18 and 35 years.
  • South Africans who are in possession of a minimum of a National Diploma at NQF level 6.
  • No working experience required.

  • Preference will be given to applicants residing within Gauteng Province.
  • You must not have participated in any other internship programme.
