Located on the southwest coast beneath the iconic Table Mountain, it is a major port and a popular tourist destination. - B.Bibl / B.LIS / B.Tech: LIS/ B. Inf (Hons) or PGDip LIS or equivalent 4-year post matric qualification.
- 3-5 years’ relevant experience in a public library environment which includes supervisory experience
- Fully conversant with all aspects of librarianship, in particular the principles of collection development, reference work, information retrieval and bibliographic knowledge
- A wide reading background and knowledge of literature in general
- Sound leadership and management abilities.
- Knowledge of the means to establish user needs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Initiative, adaptability, and advocacy skills
- Computer literacy in MS applications
- Valid LIASA membership
- Successful candidates will be required to work evenings and on Saturdays on a roster basis.
