The mission of the DWS is to ensure that all citizens have access to clean water and dignified sanitation, while promoting effective and efficient water resources management for sustainable economic and social development. The DWS operates based on the mandate set out in South Africa’s National Water Act of 1998 and the Water Services Act of 1997.

Requirements and Expectations

Minimum Requirements

  • A Senior Certificate (Grade 12) with Mathematics or Accounting as passed subjects.
  • One (1) to two (2) years’ experience in finance will serve as an added advantage.
  • Exposure to SAP, PERSAL, PFMA, National Treasury Regulations, and Supply Chain Management (creditors) will be an advantage.
  • The disclosure of a valid, unexpired driver’s license will serve as an added advantage.
  • Computer literacy (MS Office).
  • Strong verbal and written communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and as part of a team.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and record money, issue receipts, and handle banking of cash.
  • Manage petty cash including issuing, replenishment, and reconciliations.
  • Update rent registers and allocate deductions on PERSAL.
  • Capture and verify financial data on PERSAL and related systems.
  • File and maintain financial documentation in accordance with policy.
  • Support the finance section with salary inquiries and processing of:
  • Overtime
  • Shift allowances
  • Standby and Sunday duties
  • Public holiday payments
  • Capture Eskom accounts on SAP and send payment advices to Eskom.
  • Perform any other administrative and financial tasks as assigned.

Note

  • Candidates will be required to complete a practical and theoretical test as part of the selection process.
