Job Purpose

  • We are currently looking for a confident, creative and innovative all-rounder to join the operational team in the Cape Town.
  • The incumbent to have strong knowledge in Exports, Oil and Gas and Marine / Ship Spares as well as Import Clearing and Forwarding.
  • This individual needs to have a good understanding in all operational  disciplines within the Clearing and Forwarding environment (Imports / Exports / Crosstrades / Customs / Bonded Cargo, Etc.)

Qualifications & Experience

  • Matriculation certification
  • Must be in possession of a valid and endorsed Code 08 driver’s license
  • Completed relevant freight and logistics courses
  • A minimum of three (3) years’ working experience within the Oil and Gas / Project / Marine sector of the market at Controller level
  • A minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years’ experience within the Clearing and Forwarding Industry at Controller level

Key Responsibilities

  • Maximise customer satisfaction through co-operation with allied disciplines (Entries, Finance, etc.) and third parties (SACD, Customs, Air Lines, Transporters etc.)
  • Identify and take the appropriate mitigating steps to limit all risk issues
  • Continual evaluation on cost savings and process improvement
  • To support the Business Unit Manager and Supervisor in the implement and maintain relevant ISO and operational procedures when required
  • Ensure full adherence to the prescribed policies and procedures within the Division
  • Transport arrangements; arrange pickup / deliveries, packing when instructed by Client
  • Prepare, print and collate applicable Shipping documents
  • Arrange for all required examinations when required
  • Service Delivery; adhere to and comply with service agreement and utilise all necessary resources available to ensure the best service
  • Solving operational problems with Clients and Suppliers

  • Must have well-developed interpersonal skills and be able to liaise effectively with people at all levels within an organisation
  • Good industry networking combined with high level relationships with all critical suppliers

  • Quality control, by ensuring quality and procedure standards are maintained
  • Report-writing skills
  • Be able to interact and participate in a team and be a team player
  • Must have excellent working knowledge of customs affairs especially in relation to international exports and imports
  • High attention to detail
