The City of Ekurhuleni is a metropolitan municipality in the Gauteng province of South Africa, located east of Johannesburg. It was formed in 2000 through the amalgamation of the former East Rand region. Its name means “place of peace” in the Tsonga language. Covering 1,975 square kilometers, Ekurhuleni is one of the most densely populated areas in the country. It is strategically located as a transportation hub, home to a vast network of roads, railways, and O.R. Tambo International Airport.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BCom / B Tech in Financial Accounting/ Financial Management
  • 4 years’ experience in budget, accounting, forecasting and resource allocation in a large, devolved organisation, preferably within the local government sector

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage the BRT expenditure division
  • Manage the different functions of the division and provide uniform goal and objective
  • Contribute to the development of the governance strategy and the risk management plan
  • Oversee administrative management of the management accounting unit to ensure all administrative processes are executed within time, cost and quality standards
  • Manage and delegate tasks to subordinates in accordance with needs to ensure productivity
  • Provide guidance with regard to planning of appointed projects or tasks and the approach to investigations
  • Manage accurate recording of information regarding expenditure activities
  • Plan, organise and co-ordinate the workflow and manage activities of the revenue division
  • Monitor and analyse the expenditure budget through periodical financial reports.
  • Compile reports on all divisional activities and submit to the Senior Manager Financial accounting.
