PURPOSE OF POSITION
- The incumbent will be responsible for managing the full confirmations and authorisations process at the front of hospital. This includes liaison with medical aids, internal teams, and patients to ensure accurate admissions, authorisations, deposits, and billing readiness.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
- Receive patients into admissions with a positive, friendly, and professional approach.
- Manage and coordinate medical aid confirmations and pre-authorisations with medical aids on behalf of admissions and clinical teams.
- Liaise with doctors rooms, case management, and internal departments to obtain and validate authorisation numbers timeously.
- Manage authorisations for the team with medical aids, including follow-ups on outstanding approvals to prevent admission and billing delays.
- Inform patients of payment procedures, clearly explaining medical aid versus private fee splits.
- Inform private patients of deposits payable and advise that account balances are to be settled on discharge.
- Respect the confidentiality of patients, visitors, and doctors requirements, addressing needs with maturity and concern.
- Accept deposits and issue receipts for patient deposits (e.g. maternity bookings, future operations, cosmetic procedures), ensuring secure handling of monies and compliance with the Cash Policy by placing funds in the drop safe.
- Maintain accurate administration controls relating to cash collections and authorisation documentation.
- Work independently, under pressure, and unsupervised while maintaining accuracy and professionalism.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Matric certificate (essential).
- Computer literacy (essential).
- Minimum of 1–2 years relevant hospital or healthcare admissions experience.
- Proven experience working with Medical Aids and Pre-authorisations (essential).
- Experience with the Delta 9 system (essential).
- Willingness to work shifts (Day and Night Shift).
