Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead large projects or processes of complex scope with limited oversight from Manager;
  • Lead systems engineering delivery across multiple initiatives and projects;
  • Allocate technical tasks and ensure quality with on-time delivery;
  • Review and validate designs, proposed solutions and documentation;
  • Drive deployment preparation, impact analysis, and release readiness;
  • Champion and contribute to continuous improvement in engineering practices and technical workflows;
  • Provide systems sign-off on solutions and automations;
  • Ensure the execution of change management activities to support successful adoption;
  • Ensure delivered solutions are aligned to defined business outcomes and KPIs
  •  Apply systems thinking to understand and manage interdependencies, impacts, and connections across the broader technology ecosystem;
  • Translate business and product requirements into clear, testable system and integration requirements;
  • Define and maintain end-to-end solution architectures, including interfaces, data flows, and integration patterns;
  • Design and deliver secure, scalable, and optimised APIs, integrations, and system components;
  • Ensure solutions are engineered for high performance, availability, resilience, and long-term scalability;
  • Define and own non-functional requirements for digital solutions;
  • Perform advanced diagnostics, troubleshooting, and performance tuning across systems and integrations;
  • Design and implement observability across systems, including logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting to support production operations;
  • Apply secure-by-design principles throughout the engineering lifecycle to protect data, systems, and integrations;
  • Produce and maintain high-quality technical documentation, including architecture diagrams, and interface specifications;
  • Contribute to and enforce engineering standards, patterns, and best practices across digital solutions;
  • Ensure system designs support business continuity, including resilience, failover, and recovery considerations;
  • Act as the technical owner for all gateway-based integrations;
  • Ensure gateways are securely engineered, optimised, monitored, and aligned with architectural standards;
  • Diagnose and resolve gateway-related performance issues and incidents;
  • Ensure secure handling of tokens, certificates, secrets, and encrypted data exchanged across gateways;
  • Provide technical leadership to the team and third-party vendors for payment gateway integrations;
  • Collaborate with architecture, security, and vendors for gateway enhancements, upgrades, and new implementations;
  • Support rollout and validation of new gateway protocols, features, and integration patterns;
  • Establish and uphold testing strategies for unit, integration, system, and regression testing, ensuring effective use of test automation;
  • Embed quality gates into CI/CD pipelines to prevent regressions and ensure production readiness;
  • Ensure internal knowledge bases, support guides, and documentation are kept up to date to support stable operations;
  • Maintain secure version control and repository discipline;
  • Support vulnerability remediation and compliance;
  • Ensure enterprise systems, integrations, and automation initiatives comply with organisational policies, standards, and regulations;
  • Create and maintain technical policies and standards governing system design, integration, and optimisation;
  • Support internal and external audits by providing technical evidence of compliance and control effectiveness;
  • Identify and track technology and platform risks at an enterprise level, ensuring mitigation actions are defined and executed;
  • Translate and present technical details for nontechnical stakeholders;
  • Manage vendor-related technical escalations and ensure vendor deliverables meet agreed standards;
  • Champion the identification of automation and digital optimisation opportunities across systems;
  • Support the experimentation phase of new ideas and initiatives;
  • Guide successful proof-of-concepts through to scalable, production-ready solutions with clear benefits realisation tracking;
  • Set technical direction for automation and digital solutions;
  • Mentor and support Digital Solution Engineers;
  • Develop and grow Digital Solution Graduates;
  • Act as the main technical escalation point for complex integrations and incidents;
  • Lead organisational change by driving adoption of scalable, data-informed technologies
  • Build cross-functional alignment to deliver stability and growth;
  • Promote responsible use of technology with a focus on sustainability and resilience;
  • Encourage teams to take accountability, motivate continuous improvement, and cultivate an environment of innovation, curiosity, and excellence.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or Equivalent (Essential);
  • Bachelors degree in Information Technology , Industrial Engineering;
  • Computer Science or a related field (Essential);
  • Postgraduate qualification in Information Technology , Computer Science or a related field (Advantageous);
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Information Technology Systems and Engineering;
  • Proven experience in leading large-scale projects (Essential);
  • Experience with systems, integration, and automation (Essential);
  • Aviation experience (Advantageous).
