Job Description

The SSE Officer will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of risk controls, systems implementation and maintaining of Health & Safety Programs.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Implementation and maintaining of Risk Control Systems
  • Implementation and maintaining of Health & Safety Program
  • Implementation and maintaining of Environmental ISO 14001 Standard
  • Induction training on Health & Safety and ISO 14001 on all employees, visitors and contractors
  • Execute duties of Risk Control Officer
  • Draw up training requirements
  • Arrange training facilities and equipment
  • Assist with Risk and Environmental audit preparation
  • Assist in compliance reviews, general risk assessments and other safety assessments to support Health, Safety and Environmental management.
  • Maintain relevant HSE logs and documentation.
  • Assist in the compliance of applicable laws and regulations.
  • Prepare applicable HSE reports as necessary.
  • Provide assistance and advice on HSE issues to make recommendations to facility management.
  • Participate in detailed incident investigations and Root Cause Analysis
  • Promote incident prevention for the benefit of employees and visitors.
  • Assist in the development and presentation of relevant HSE training
  • Observe HSE regulations, wears all required safety equipment, encourages safe working practices, corrects obvious hazards immediately or reports them to the proper personnel.
  • Maintain positive and proactive relations with managers and employees, as well as our customers and regulatory agencies.
  • Perform other work-related tasks as required as assigned
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE procedures and policies.

WHAT YOU WILL BE MEASURED ON:

  • Your knowledge and enforce compliance of Regulatory requirements (i.e. OSHA, CalOSHA, EPA, etc.), including company HSE policies and procedures.
  • Personal Effectiveness- Ability to work with employees and achieve cultural change in the face of potential resistance, Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, Ability to oversee Safety Incentive Programs, Ability to oversee Hazardous Waste Storage area and ensure regulatory agency compliance i.e. labelling, containment, proper disposal, documentation, etc.

​ ESSENTIAL SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 Years Degree in Occupational, Health & Safety sciences
  • Management Course in Security or equivalent
  • SAMTRAC & IT IS or equivalent
  • Formal ISO 14001 training course or higher
  • 5 Years’ experience in Health & Safety environment.
  • 5 Years’ experience in a Security environment.
  • 2 Years’ experience in Environmental environment.
