Purpose of Job

  • Specialist leverages mining business process knowledge to report, analyse and interpret data. This position plays an integral role in ensuring data integrity and visibility.
  • The focus stretches across all collieries and various business drivers.
  • Help drive critical business decisions by analysing metrics and designing reports for management decision making.
  • Main tasks will include reporting and analytics, as well as finding ways to optimise the business through business analysis.

Key Accountabilities

  • In depth understanding of business drivers and mining business process.
  • Excellent standard on reporting quality and accuracy.
  • Be able to report up to a board level
  • Be able to analyse data, interpret data and delivering insight into the mining business
  • Has the skills to develop visualization dashboards. (Power BI)
  • Gathering data from different sources, cleaning data and consolidating data.
  • Ensure that developed solutions are sustainable and requires minimum interfaces and interdependencies.
  • Maintain and embed the mining strategic initiative tracking tool. Support technology advances on the tracking tool.
  • Strong project management coordination skills (GIS Projects)
  • Embed process modelling and prepare a comprehensive write up defining the key performance indicators
  • Apply SHE practices in alignment with set standards for safe operations
  • Implement Sasol Group’s risk philosophy and enterprise risk management framework
  • Build and maintain positive working relationships with data owners to optimise data science systems and processes and enhance business performance
  • Continuously improve own skills and knowledge. Complete, implement, and track personal development plan to attain personal performance goals

Formal Education

  • University Bachelors’ Degree/ B Tech (BCom Finance, Business,Economics, Computer Science, Bsc/ BEng Industrial Engineer)
  • Knowledge of SQL programming language, PowerBI (wish)
  • Advanced Excel skills

Working Experience

  • Experience: 6+ relevant years
