The museum houses significant national heritage collections and features both permanent and temporary exhibitions.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide visitors with relevant information about the Museum, its displays and any relevant tourist information as required.
- Provide Museum visitors with floor plan and inform them about available facilities.
- Monitor security in the public areas of the Museum: check alarm and report faults in the alarm system, advise visitors about what to do in cases of emergency.
- Report maintenance work needed, such as blocked toilets, etc.
- Attend courses to gain knowledge of local tourism-related topics to improve customer satisfaction.
- Admin duties: receive admission fees from visitors and school groups, responsible for sales in the Museum shop, keep records of shop stock and sales, and keep statistics of visitor numbers.
- Museum education: Assist Education Officers in developing school programmes and conduct guided tours for the schools.
REQUIREMENTS:
- National diploma in Tourism, Cultural History or Nature Conservation.
- At least one year work experience in the tourism or heritage sector.
- Further training in hospitality, Customer care and tour guiding will be an added advantage.
