Position Purpose
- The specification and design of IT solutions to meet defined business needs. The design, creation, testing and documentation of new and amended programs from supplied specifications in accordance with agreed standards. Ensure smooth operations of relevant IT systems that complement the business. The incumbent is involved with the development, maintenance, and enhancement of TPT’S Terminal Operating system (TOS) functional areas of the TOS; in order to meet the TPT’S Commercial as well as Sales & Marketing business needs and processes. Collaborate with all stakeholders to plan, design, configure, test, and implement TOS-specific solutions. This can include TOS integrated business solutions as well as collaboration with other operating divisions, and customers. Technical tasks related to TOS implementations and upgrades also form part of the responsibilities of the role.
Position Outputs
- Define system requirements, design specifications and systems documentation.
- Data modelling, procedural and technical designs according to application development methods, techniques and standards.
- Structured review of software code, development, and software testing.
- During TOS implementations and upgrades, participate in the entire life cycle of TOS planning, design, configuration, testing and implementation.
- Cost estimation, feasibility studies and other budget requirements
- Record time allocation per task for project management and capitalization purposes
- Staff Management and Leadership. Update technical documentation on a regular basis to ensure it is current and up to date. Maintain technical configurations in accordance with related policies and procedures.
- Execute thorough functional testing of solutions and TOS versions
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant Qualification / National Diplôma (NQF 6/7)
- Advantageous: Transnet leadership Development Programme
- Min 5 years’ relevant experience in development experience in Oracle / APEX preferably with 1 year supervisory or specialist experience Recognition of competence Number of years with lesser or lower qualification.
- 6 yrs relevant and solid experience with at least 2 yrs at managerial level or specialist experience.
