Job Purpose

  1. Plan and direct the activity of a Sales team, ensuring they consistently deliver against targets and KPIs
  2. Grow volumes in existing markets through existing sales structures
  3. Develop new markets & channels
  4. Monitor bakery sales activity and success rates against targets, and take appropriate corrective action where necessary.
  5. Develop strong business relationships with store management to provide service and value beyond the customer’s expectations.
  6. Ensure that merchandising frequency is planned and conducted to brand and store demands.
  7. Gather intelligence and report on customer preferences, competitive activity & pricing
  8. Develop and maintain a complete knowledge of products within your portfolio, sales systems and procedures.
  9. Ensure that product quality delivers to the required Tiger Brands level, securing a consistent output
  10. Assess procedures and equipment to find improvement potential, ultimately increasing production efficiency and customer satisfaction
  11. Secure the customer and consumer satisfaction needed to drive growth in the competitive bakeries market
  12. Work with customers to ensure sufficient product is ordered to support consumer take away.

Asset Management

  • Manage point of sales material
  • Basket management to reduce losses

Senior Leadership/interface relationship

  • External , National distribution & RTM management & customer    managers
  • Internal-Dispatch & Transport ( Distribution)

Financial management

  • Manage budgets and trade discounts

Human Resources Management

  1. Manager performance of sales team members against KPI”s
  2. Conduct formal employee evaluations, providing formal feedback and development points bi-annually
  3. Manage career and succession plans, including capability development to ensure an appropriate level of skill and competence
  4. Manage conflict resolution
  5. Oversee the consistent application, enforcement and management of discipline across the Sales team
  6. Manage compliance to relevant employment legislation and company policies
  7. Consequence management
  8. Training & development

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE TABLE:

  1. Tertiary qualification in Sales/Marketing/Commercial ( food manufacturing highly recommended)
  2. 10 years sales experience in a FMCG environment
  3. Five years sales management experience in a FMCG environment
  4. Valid drivers’ license
  5. Prepared to work long hours when required
  6. Prepared to work weekends and public holidays
  7. Prepared to work in informal and formal trade sector
  8. Experience in managing P&L ( discount management & profitability)
  9. Experience in Capital management
