Position Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified and experienced Clinic Practitioner (Clinic Sister) to join its healthcare team at the Brooklyn branch in Pretoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and operating a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic within the pharmacy while delivering exceptional patient care in accordance with professional nursing standards and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Healthcare Service Delivery

  • Perform Clinic Sister duties in accordance with professional nursing regulations and healthcare standards.
  • Deliver comprehensive primary healthcare services to patients.
  • Conduct health assessments, screenings, consultations, and treatment plans.
  • Promote preventative healthcare initiatives and wellness programmes.
  • Ensure high standards of patient care and clinical service delivery.

Clinic Operations Management

  • Manage daily clinic operations efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensure the clinic remains operational during designated trading hours.
  • Monitor clinic performance and patient flow to achieve operational objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and company policies.
  • Drive clinic profitability while maintaining quality patient care.

Patient Record Management

  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
  • Ensure all patient information is documented correctly and updated regularly.
  • Follow up on patient communications and treatment plans where necessary.
  • Manage healthcare documentation according to legal and professional requirements.

Stock and Equipment Control

  • Ensure sufficient stock levels are maintained at all times.
  • Monitor clinic inventory and order supplies when required.
  • Verify that medical equipment remains functional, calibrated, and compliant.
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic clinical environment.

Claims and Administration

  • Process medical aid and healthcare claims accurately and within required timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare funding regulations and industry requirements.
  • Monitor clinic statistics and performance indicators.
  • Maintain accurate financial and operational records.

Stakeholder Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong professional relationships with:

  • Patients and their families.
  • Store and Dispensary Managers.
  • Colleagues and healthcare professionals.
  • Medical aid providers.
  • Pharmaceutical representatives and suppliers.
  • Community healthcare stakeholders.
  • Local healthcare networks and service providers.

Minimum Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing.
  • Degree or Diploma in Midwifery.
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • Eligible to obtain BHF Registration.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Advantageous Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Sister.
  • Experience with Patient Record Systems.
  • Knowledge of CKS and Allegra systems.
  • Additional healthcare certifications in primary healthcare and disease management.
