Position Overview

Dis-Chem Pharmacies is seeking a qualified and experienced Clinic Practitioner (Clinic Sister) to join its Baby City Kolonade clinic in Pretoria. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and operating a profitable Primary Health Care Clinic while ensuring the delivery of high-quality healthcare services in accordance with professional nursing standards and healthcare regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Primary Healthcare Service Delivery

  • Provide professional primary healthcare services within the clinic environment.
  • Conduct patient consultations, assessments, screenings, and health evaluations.
  • Deliver preventative healthcare interventions and wellness programmes.
  • Promote healthy lifestyle practices through patient education.
  • Ensure quality patient care and positive healthcare outcomes.

Clinic Management and Operations

  • Manage daily clinic activities and operational performance.
  • Monitor patient flow and clinic productivity targets.
  • Ensure clinic services remain available and accessible during operational hours.
  • Maintain compliance with healthcare regulations and company policies.
  • Support clinic profitability while maintaining exceptional healthcare standards.

Patient Administration and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate and confidential patient records.
  • Ensure patient information is captured correctly and updated regularly.
  • Follow up on patient communications and treatment plans where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare record management requirements.

Medical Aid Claims and Reporting

  • Process medical aid claims accurately and within required timelines.
  • Maintain clinic performance statistics and operational reports.
  • Monitor monthly clinic performance indicators.
  • Support achievement of clinic business objectives and targets.

Inventory and Equipment Control

  • Monitor clinic stock levels and ensure sufficient inventory.
  • Ensure medical equipment remains functional and compliant with healthcare standards.
  • Coordinate stock replenishment and inventory management activities.
  • Maintain a safe, hygienic, and organised clinic environment.

Relationship Management

Build and maintain strong professional relationships with:

  • Patients and caregivers.
  • Store and Dispensary Managers.
  • Healthcare colleagues and professionals.
  • Medical aid providers.
  • Pharmaceutical suppliers and representatives.
  • Community healthcare stakeholders.
  • Local healthcare organisations and referral networks.

Minimum Requirements

Essential Qualifications

  • Grade 12 (Matric).
  • Tertiary qualification in General Nursing.
  • Degree or Diploma in Midwifery.
  • Registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • Ability to obtain BHF Registration.
  • Minimum 2–3 years’ experience as a Primary Health Care Clinic Sister.
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Advantageous Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Primary Health Care environment.
  • Experience using Patient Record Systems.
  • Knowledge of CKS and Allegra systems.
  • Additional certifications in primary healthcare, disease management, and maternal-child healthcare.
